STRANGERS ON A TRAIN

Directed by Andrew Wilson

Performance dates Monday 24th to Saturday 29th November

Audition date Thursday 11th September at 8.00pm.

This play (written in 2000) is based on the original novel and differs in significant respects from Alfred Hitchcock’s famous film.

A psychological thriller set in 1950s America.

Characters

Charles Bruno       Charming, flamboyant, unstable playboy.

Guy Haines            Staid architect.

Elsie Bruno            Charles’ mother.

Anne Faulkner       The woman who becomes Guy’s second wife.

Frank Myers           A work colleague of Guy.

Robert Treacher     A work colleague of Guy.

Arthur Gerrard       A private detective.

Glossop Victorian Weekend

Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th September

 

As usual we shall be serving Victorian Cream Teas in the clubroom and presenting a Comic Melodrama in the theatre. Admission to the melodrama ‘The Secret of Acacia Avenue’ is free but after seeing the show patrons may be anxious to pay to get out. (All contributions will be donated to Willow Wood Hospice.)

(Performances at 1.30, 2.30 and 3.30pm)

 

Sunday 14th September

 

Bad Apple Theatre Company present ‘An Honorary Yorkshireman’

a gentle new comedy based on the life of James Herriot (‘All Creatures Great & Small’).  Starring TV’s Phil Yarrow.

In the round, in the clubroom with tiered seating. Tickets cost £8 and are on sale behind the bar, or ring the Box Office on 0161 430 6694.

Performance starts at 8.00pm , bar open from 7.30pm.

 

Friday 26th September

 

Planet Rabbit Productions Ltd. present ‘Groping for Words’ a comedy by Sue Townsend, directed by Peter Martin who has directed such popular T.V. shows as ‘Emmerdale’ and ‘The Royle Family’. Tickets cost £9 and are on sale behind the bar, or ring the Box Office on 0161 430 6694 or 07736 152348. Performance starts at 7.30pm.

 

Saturday 27th September

 

The fabulous Houghton Weavers . In the theatre for one night only.
