When Richard Willey, a government minister, plans to spend the evening with Jane Worthington, one of the opposition typists, things start badly and rapidly get worse.

Characters:

Hotel Manager...........A severe man, a real jobsworth

Richard Willey...........Suave, successful and confident.

The Waiter.................A nimble, wily older man.

The Maid....................An Italian woman in her 40s/50s.

Jane Worthington.......An attractive but dizzy young lady.

The Body....................A non-descript middle-aged man.

George Pigden............An upright pleasant man of nervous disposition.

Ronnie.........................Jane’s husband, an angry young man.

Pamela Willey.............Richard’s wife. Attractive and sophisticated.

Gladys.........................George’s mother’s nurse. Bossy but attractive.

Partington One-Act Play Festival

A different programme of two or three one-act plays every night.

Tickets are an absolute bargain at only £3.00 per night or £10 for all five nights (twelve plays) and are on sale at the clubroom bar, or you can pay

at the door on the night.

Visiting actress and director Pam Slater will make her adjudication and hand out gongs on the final night.

Buxton Fringe

Stage3 Theatre Company presents  Two Bennetts.

 Partington regulars Mike Brown and Ann Sturmey will be appearing in ‘Two Bennetts’ at the Grove Hotel in the centre of Buxton.

The show is a double bill of one-act comedies.

‘A Visit from Miss Prothero’ is a piece of wryly humorous observation 

by the inimitable Alan Bennett.

 ‘A Private Word’ is based on a previously unpublished short story  by Edwardian journalist Edwin Bennett. This charming period piece recently won the Playwright’s Trophy for best original play in the G.M.D.F.
